The phenomenon of selling street-side shrimp has existed on the North Shore of Oahu for close to twenty years. And with many shrimp and prawn farms still in the area, there is no shortage of fresh crustaceans to quench your taste. You’ll find the shrimp trucks, many of them covered with messages from fellow travelers, in parking lots throughout the surf town of Haleiwa and along Kamehameha Highway. Each truck has their own claim to fame – broiled shrimp, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, spicy shrimp, garlic shrimp (for the sake of not getting too Forest Gump on you, I’ll stop there).
