Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade

Yesterday I was featured on Ann Taylor’s blog showing how I style one summer travel essential two ways.  I chose this breezy white linen shirt.  First I styled it for work, which is usually anywhere with strong coffee and strong Wifi.   Then I styled it for travel – my latest taking me to Belgrade, Serbia, my husband’s hometown.  I’ll be posting the work look next week, but today, it’s Belgrade!

We chose Kalemegdan Fortress as our first shoot location.   I mean, how much better does it get?  There’s no ticket to enter, no one telling you where to go.  I’ve come here many times and I’ve always loved wandering around the fortress’ sprawling grounds.  There’s also a gorgeous cafe on the terrace — the perfect place to catch the sunset over the Sava and Danube rivers.  Don’t let the photos fool you…it was H-O-T.  About 90 degrees.  But the linen shirt kept me super cool.

Next, I went crazy for this street just a block off of Knez Mihailova, Belgrade’s main drag.  The worn down facade, the moldings, the graffiti and bright blue sign written in Cyrllic.  Just wonderful, no?  It also happens to be right across from Belgrades newest gelato shop Moritz Eis.  Go there.  Trust me.
